The World Inside a Car

About My Photograph, "The World Inside a Car"

It can be said that the world inside a car is a closed and private space, where its relation to the outside world is diminished. It is also a miniature world to which only the passengers belong. Gazing at passing cars, I felt the extent of the world I'd never known. The feeling came so naturally to me that I did not have to think long and hard about how I would take the shot in capturing this feeling in my photograph.

When I was a high school student, I saw a family talking with each other in a passing car which seemed comfortably warm. The world of intimacy and warmth inside the car seemed to contrast with my world in which I walked alone on the snowy road. My experience of that world drove me to take this picture, entitled "The World Inside a Car". Though I lacked technicque and a good pictorial sense, I was able to carry out this work with my own idea, effort and a little help from my friends. So it became a memorable work for me.
